Job Summary
Part of UTA’s elite support team who works within a technical team that provides professional support to clients, executives within university entities, including resolving software, hardware, security and network issues. Researches, evaluates, tests new hardware/software and makes recommendations to campus university based on findings. Assists with inventory, compliance and IT procurements. This position works under the supervision of a technical manager. May work nights and weekends as needed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Configures, installs and maintains new desktops, laptops, tablets, mobile devices.
Configures, installs, maintain printers, multifunction devices and creates print queues.
Configures, installs, maintains standard supported software troubleshooting, analyzing, identify, repair and restore service of desktops, laptops, tablets, mobile devices including:
security, network issues and/or vulnerabilities on university equipment.
Utilize server-based computer-management tools to resolve client incidents and requests daily.
Interacts with end-users to provide professional consultation, recommendation for new hardware.
Serve as liaison between OIT, clients, executives and other IT professionals on campus.
Provides Tier 2-3 technical support, guidance and works with vendors to resolve issues.
Researches, evaluates, tests, and documents desktop hardware for the university community.
Participates in evaluation and testing of standard supported software packages for the university community.
Makes recommendations based upon the findings.
Performs other duties assigned including:
Update ServiceNow logs and utilize server-based computer-management consoles in daily work.
Creates and updates online documentation for standards, services, processes and procedures.
Minimum Qualifications
Associates degree in related field with at least one (1) years of hands-on computing work experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Familiar with the field’s concepts, practices, and procedures.
Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
Obtain certifications as required by manager.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in related field with at least two (2) or more more years of hands-on computing work experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Practical work experience with Microsoft Windows 7 and above OS and Applications, and Mac OS 10.X and Applications.
Practical work experience in repairing PCs, Macs, Printers, and network connection issues.
Experience with web development tools used to create, maintain, and update websites. A+, Dell, Apple, HP, and Microsoft certifications a plus.
